View Full Version : WAOE *NOT* a bogus accreditor

Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I just want to clarify a statement that appears in the latest AACRAO release on St Regis located at http://www.aacrao.org/transcript/index.cfm?fuseaction=show_view&doc_id=2817

The World Association for Online Education (WAOE) is not and has never claimed to be an accrediting agency. It a group of individuals interested and involved in online education, who pay fees to be members. I used to be a member, and it is an entirely legitimate organisation. I have been in constant contact with the President, assisting him in the ongoing problem of removing the WAOE logo from many institutions claiming to be members and claiming some form of endorsement from the WAOE.

I am sure AACRAO will update the article soon, and remove this statement. And, this just shows how difficult the problem is becoming. WAUC, WAOE etc etc. and the ease of cutting and pasting graphics online. Who does one trust?

Cheers,

George

Thanks for clarifying this George. This is not the first time a legitimate institution's name has been misused by a "less than wonderful" school. However, I have another question – if you were to list the top five associations for distance/online learning – which ones would you pick?

Mmm, OK. But what do you mean by association? Any specific criteria. I guess what I am saying is what are you personally seeking to obtain and share from being part of the association. Many are created to service different needs.

Cheers,

George

I like GAOLEE (http://www.gaolee.co.za/), mainly because people associated with the organization really should be gaolees (jailees to Americans, I suppose).

No specific criteria – I was hoping for your views on who you consider to be the lead organizations in moving distance/online learning forward – both from a technological and content perspective. I am not particularly interested in accreditations – I think that has already been done. I have been spending some time reviewing Sloan lately http://www.sloan-c.org/ - any other suggestions?
