I don't understand why our government wants to punish those that want to go to college and need financial help to do it. The interest rate on my student loans is higher than the interest rate on my house. I've already consolidated so I can't get a lower rate any more either.

IMHO interest rates on student loans shouldn't be any more than 3%. I also like Bill Clintons that loan takers could do community service to help pay off their loans. I'd pick up trash if i thought it would help get rid of my loan debt. We have green card lotteries, why can't we have student loan forgivness lotteries?

Sounds kind of pinko socialist to me. Heaven forbid you pay your own debt that you agreed to as an adult.

I wouldn't say pinko socialist. We have a farking lottery for green cards. Besides what about all those folks from the 60's and 70's that never payed back their student loans and where NEVER asked by our government to pay those back? Our government rapes students for money to go to college, and they are not making it easier for those that need the help to get a college degree.

New York State Universities had a 28 percent (tried for 41 percent) tuition increase this year and they want a 9 percent increase for next year. This is outpacing inflation by a bit! In previous years NYS has claimed to hold tuition steady. In reality, they just hid the previous increases in obsurd fees such as the "Comprehensive Fee" (I guess they ran out of things to tack fees on to). I'm pretty far from a pinko commie, but hitting individuals that are trying to better themselves is not the right way to go.
