Dear Friends

I have a question related to Doctoral Degrees received in the EU. I got both of my BS and MS in the U.S and them I went to the Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal) where I received my Ph.D degree. Can I get ternure in the U.S and be a regular faculty member? Does it matter if I got my Doctoral degree in Portugal? I would like to hear your opinions on this issue since I plan to come back to the U.S with my family soon. Thank you

John

John, assuming your degree is properly accredited from Portugal you will probably need it evaluated by a NACES (www.naces.org) organization and get an equivalence statement attesting that it is US Doctoral equivalent. I see no reason why your degree from Portgual would disqualify you otherwise. However, you will still need to qualify in their other requirements with regards to experience, publications, "who you know" etc. etc. etc.

Good luck.
