I have my own list, but it's much less complete than this.
The list could be more useful if the author provided an easier way for people to choose their first stops when looking for different types of information. Also, it would be useful to clearly identify the sites whose full capabilities are available to the public for free. Maybe this is something that degreeboard.com should take on?
One of the reasons that I maintain my standing as an adjunct with a state university is that it provides me with easy access to a very large academic library system. It's an important part of my life. If the freely-accessible online sites improve enough, I may be able to drop the university.

I sat next to an Adjunct Professor at an online school on an airplane last year and he basically mentioned for that same reason to get access to Proquest/UMI access and the other library systems is a big draw as to why he even teaches online a few times a year.
